Situated just west of Milwaukee, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, is a suburban community with expanding residential, commercial, and industrial areas amidst remaining rural/agricultural areas, wetlands, and woodlands.
Waukesha County is among the fastest growing counties in Wisconsin with a 2007 population of 382,697 (88 percent urban, 12 percent rural). Named for the Pottawatomi word "waugooshance" which means "little foxes," Waukesha County is rich in natural beauty and resources. The County offers thousands of acres of lakes, woodlands, parks, and other green space.
The WCVC team is excited to bring the National Children's Study to Waukesha County. Eventually, more than 1,200 children and their families from our community will participate in this important Study of children's health, growth, and development.
