Welcome to the Rhode Island Study Center for the National Children's Study. The goal of the research study is to learn how to improve the health and well-being of children. To do this, the National Children's Study will examine the effects of environmental influences on the health and development of 100,000 children across the United States, following them from before birth until age 21 years.
Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University have teamed together to conduct this research study in Rhode Island. Women and families can help make an impact on the health of future generations by joining the National Children’s Study. The Study will be conducted in neighborhoods across Rhode Island.
By studying children’s health and development from before they are born into young adulthood, the Study hopes to determine what makes children healthy. Researchers also hope to better explain how the environment can impact children’s ability to grow into healthy adults. Findings from the Study will be made available as the research progresses, making potential benefits known to the public as soon as possible.
