Welcome to the Maine Study Center, the administrative and research home for the National Children’s Study in Cumberland County! The Maine Study Center in Cumberland County, Maine is one of 30 locations in the United States chosen to test an enhanced recruitment strategy for the National Children’s Study. We are the only Study Center in Northern New England. Cumberland County is located in southern Maine and includes suburban and urban communities as well as rural areas.
The Maine Study Center will manage the day-to-day activities, data collection and community outreach, and engagement activities. Our goal is that more than 1,000 children and their families will participate in this important Study of children’s health, growth, and development in Cumberland County.
Established in 2008, the Maine Study Center combines the expertise and leadership of research organizations and community partners in the region, including Maine Medical Center, the University of Southern Maine, the National Opinion Research Center, and other agencies that are working together to conduct the National Children’s Study in Cumberland County.
