Welcome to the Schuylkill County Study Location

Schuylkill County is one of 105 locations in the United States selected to participate in the National Children’s Study — the largest Study of environmental influences on children’s health and development ever conducted in the United States. The Study is investigating the most important children’s health issues of our time, including birth defects, asthma, obesity, and autism.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is coordinating the Study in Schuylkill County in partnership with Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson Street. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are being recruited for the Study at local obstetrical practices, but also are encouraged to contact us to find out if they are able to participate. Joining the Study involves providing information through periodic interviews before and during a woman’s pregnancy and as her child grows.

The Study began earlier this year in Schuylkill County and is currently enrolling participants. If you or someone you know is pregnant or planning to become pregnant and lives in Schuylkill County, please contact us for more information. Thank you for supporting this important study of children’s health.
