Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was chosen as one of 105 Study locations across the United States to participate in the National Children's Study. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Study Center is one of the first seven Centers (Vanguard Centers) selected to begin the Study. In April 2009, Study staff will start visiting homes in certain areas of Montgomery County to invite eligible women and their families to join the Study.
The CHOP Study Center will recruit 1,250 Montgomery County women and children over a 5-year period. The children will be followed from before birth through their 21st birthday. To prepare for this landmark Study, the CHOP Study Center Team is working with the Montgomery County Health Department.
The National Children's Study is the largest study of children's health ever conducted in the United States. The CHOP Study Center works closely with Montgomery County community leaders and community organizations to make the Study successful. In addition to a central office at CHOP itself, the CHOP Study Center also includes a field office in Montgomery County, located at 408 Cherry Street in Norristown, to support Study activities and to provide local information to Montgomery County residents and participants.
