Community Advisory Board

The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Study Center is supported by the expert community knowledge of our Community Advisory Board (CAB). The goal of the CAB is to involve local communities in the National Children’s Study and to ensure that the communities’ perspectives, interests, and needs are respected and represented during the planning and implementation of the Study.

In Hinds County, CAB members, many of whom represent neighborhoods and key partner organizations, help provide the Study Center with invaluable knowledge of the people, culture, and customs of participating neighborhoods. They also provide suggestions and ideas that will help to make the National Children’s Study a success.

CAB members also help spread the word about the National Children’s Study throughout Hinds County. They are Study advocates, increasing awareness, and establishing a presence for the Study in their communities. Prior to beginning recruitment of women into the Study, the CAB will continue to shape outreach and engagement activities by the UMMC Study Center. Our CAB members help ensure the continued success of the UMMC Study Center and the National Children’s Study.
