The Queens Vanguard Center (QVC) is supported by the expert community knowledge of our Community Advisory Board (CAB). The goal of the CAB is to involve local communities in the National Children’s Study and to ensure that the community’s perspectives, interests, and needs are respected and represented during the planning and implementation of the Study.
In Queens, CAB members, many of whom represent neighborhoods selected to participate in the Study, community-based organizations in Queens, and key partner organizations, provide the QVC with invaluable knowledge of the people, culture, and customs of participating neighborhoods. They also provide suggestions and ideas that will help to make the National Children’s Study a success.
CAB members help spread the word about the National Children’s Study throughout Queens. They are Study advocates, increasing awareness, and establishing a presence for the Study in their communities. Prior to beginning recruitment of women into the Study, the CAB has shaped outreach and engagement activities by the QVC. Our CAB members help ensure the continued success of the QVC and the National Children’s Study.
