Welcome to the St. Louis City Study Location

St. Louis, Missouri has been selected as one of 105 counties from across the country to participate in the National Children’s Study. It was further selected to be one of the pilot sites initiated to discover the most effective and efficient methods of recruiting and enrolling participants into the Study. St. Louis City was the first location in the Gateway Study Center to begin enrolling participants in the Study in 2010.

St. Louis City is unique in that it is the only city within the state of Missouri that operates as both a city and a county. Known as the “Gateway to the West,” St. Louis City is a highly urbanized area situated on the western shore of the Mississippi River. Home to approximately 355,000 people and covering 61.9 square miles, the city is composed of many diverse and distinct neighborhoods. Such diversity makes St. Louis City an important place to examine new recruitment strategies and learn about the health, growth, and development of the Nation’s children.

The Gateway Study Center team is excited to bring the National Children's Study to St. Louis.
