Welcome to the Westmoreland County Study Location

Welcome to the National Children’s Study in Westmoreland! The Westmoreland County Study location is a Vanguard Recruitment Pilot location and will be implementing the Two-Tiered Recruitment Strategy. As one of only ten centers participating in the two-tiered recruitment strategy, people living in Westmoreland County will be some of the first in the nation to contribute to this landmark Study.

Although the University of Pittsburgh will lead the implementation of the Study, only residents from selected neighborhoods in Westmoreland County are eligible to participate in the National Children’s Study. The Westmoreland County Study location is supported by local community leaders, health systems, small businesses, and non-profit organizations, and recruitment of participants for the National Children’s Study in Westmoreland began in November 2010.
